at the echo curio

“ERIN MUIR is the mystical variety of bohemian female who banks heavily off her extraordinary experiences and life journeys to create music”

I’d wanted to check out the Echo Curio for awhile, and last night I dropped in for a second before heading to Little Joy for some pool. It was an interesting little venue, and one of the most interesting things about it is that there are large glass windows facing the street, which was busy with foot traffic on Friday night. It made being in the audience feel as if you were simultaneously part of a show for the people walking by. I only caught the first act, a lounge-y, soulful singer who seemed distractingly out of place in the small art gallery. Not exactly the sort of experimental art project I’d hoped to see. Apparently the next few sets were quite good, but I missed out, and instead spent my time dealing with local chumps who pretended not to know the rules of pool when it was to their benefit.

The story of a doctor who conquered his own insanity and now shows others the way back, by the author of Microbe Hunters.
"An old master Paul de Kruif surely is. His latest book has pace, it has style, it has a sharply drawn hero, and, most important, it tells one of the great stories of our times." -Washington Post and Times Herald.

I found that in the back of a copy of Nova Express by William S. Burroughs.
