Apparently these posters are up and around in LA, but I have yet to see one. I haven’t been out on the town in a couple days, though, so there’s still HOPE (get it? because Shepard Fairey….ugh). Anyway, the LA Weekly blog claims that “the only thing missing is a noose”, which is a pretty dumb take on this in my opinion. AND “Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson” (what the fuck? who is this person and why does anyone care what he thinks?) claims that “Depicting the president as demonic and a socialist goes beyond political spoofery… it is mean-spirited and dangerous.” Why these people are taking this tact, rather than saying THE JOKER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SOCIALISM and THIS POSTER IS CLEARLY NOT WELL THOUGHT OUT is beyond me. You aren’t going to find me agreeing with The National Review Online very often on this blog (in fact you will frequently find me making fun of them/being outraged), but in this rare occasion I agree with Mark Hemingway’s take. Also, I don’t know anything about “Doublethink Online” but I think this is a pretty fair point too.

"An old master Paul de Kruif surely is. His latest book has pace, it has style, it has a sharply drawn hero, and, most important, it tells one of the great stories of our times." -Washington Post and Times Herald.
